ESPN Suspends Olbermann

ESPN’s Keith Olbermann eviscerated Penn State in January, labeling the university the “world’s worst” after the NCAA reversed some of the punishment from the Jerry Sandusky scandal. Nittany Lions fans haven’t forgotten about the segment, and on Monday Olbermann sparred with Penn State fans on Twitter after someone sent him a link to a story about a Penn State fundraiser.

Penn State students raised more than $13 million for pediatric cancer research at THON 2015, and Olbermann’s one word response to the tweet sparked a massive argument with his followers.

ESPN said in a statement that Olbermann will not host his show for the rest of the week.

“We are aware of the exchange Keith Olbermann had on Twitter last night regarding Penn State. It was completely inappropriate and does not reflect the views of ESPN. We have discussed it with Keith, who recognizes he was wrong. ESPN and Keith have agreed that he will not host his show for the remainder of this week and will return on Monday.”
