The Browns will hire Chris Rose to do play-by-play for their preseason games on WEWS-TV 5 this fall, two industry sources said.
Rose, 44, has been working on NFL Network since 2012. He has been the host of NFL GameDay Highlights and NFL GameDay Final.
The University School graduate might be best known for his work on “The Best Damn Sports Show Period” on Fox Sports Net in 2001.
Rose will be paired with analyst Solomon Wilcots and sideline reporter Andy Baskin, sports director at WEWS.
The Browns pushed for WKYC-TV 3’s Jim Donovan to do the games, a source said, but that wasn’t going to work with the games being broadcast on WEWS.
Donovan will continue to do play-by-play on the Browns Radio Network.
