House of Highlights started as an Instagram account that grabbed clips of awesome NBA plays and shared them. The popularity of the account exploded and today House of Highlights has around 10.8 million followers. Bleacher Report purchased the brand in 2015 from founder Omar Raja, who continues to be involved in creating its content.
Now Bleacher Report is moving House of Highlights to a different platform. It will launch a Twitter Live show featuring Raja and his best friend CJ Toledano, who also works on the Instagram feed. Toledo is a former writer for Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Fallon. The show will originate from New York in a studio Bleacher Report is building just for House of Highlights.
House of Highlights GM Doug Bernstein told Awful Announcing that Raja is “just somebody that we’re very lucky to have found that has the ability to go from behind the camera, behind the scenes, to front-facing talent.” He even went so far as to compare Raja to Bill Simmons.
Currently, Bleacher Report’s parent company, Turner, is planning to produce eight episodes of the Twitter Live show. The show debuted last night and featured a guest appearance by current NBA free agent Nick “Swaggy P” Young.
