John Champion Joins ESPN’s MLS Coverage

One of the world’s best known soccer voices is joining ESPN in 2019. John Champion is giving up international coverage of the English Premier League to focus on Major League Soccer. He will team with Taylor Twellman next year and replace Adrian Healey on ESPN’s weekly MLS broadcast.

Champion has actually been a part of the ESPN family since 2009. He called the 2014 World Cup for the company. He has also called UEFA Champions League action. Since 2019 he has been the play-by-play voice of the Premier League on ESPNUK. He will move with his family from the UK to the United States for his new assignment.

Adrian Healey will remain at ESPN. That means that between himself, Champion, and Ian Darke, ESPN has amassed an iconic stable of voices for its soccer coverage.
