Sports Radio 610 morning man Paul Gallant took to Twitter this afternoon to announce that he is no longer with the station. In a video Gallant said that he had been waiting on a new contract, but was recently told that he was not a fit on the air with the station.
Gallant said in the video that he wishes everyone at Sports Radio 610 well, but respectfully disagrees that he is not a fit for the station and doesn’t know what they are looking for as an alternative.
“I don’t know what the hell comes next,” Gallant said. “I really don’t. I thought what comes next would still be at 610.”
Paul Gallant has been with the station for eight years. He started on the night show and eventually moved into a supporting role on MAD Radio with Seth Payne and Mike Meltser. Gallant said that while he likes Payne and Meltser, he always felt like he wasn’t received and welcomed as he had hoped to be.
“Ultimately, along the way I just learned that I was not good just sitting in the background,” he added.
Gallant, who has also done part-time work for WEEI in Boston, says he would like to stay in Houston but he will weigh his options now that he is a radio free agent. In the meantime, he will remain a part of Just Saying on the local TV station Q57.
