As a new NFL season nears and teams look to finalize their rosters, so do sports radio stations. Denver’s 104.3 The Fan led by first year program director Raj Sharan are retooling their lineup again in hopes that it’ll produce stronger results.
The latest developments involve changes in middays and evenings. Denver sports radio legend Sandy Clough returns to middays (9a-12p) to host alongside retired Broncos offensive lineman Orlando Franklin.
A near 40-year radio veteran, Clough has filled multiple timeslots throughout his career, with the most recent being weeknights on 104.3 since January of last year. His co-host Orlando Franklin joined The Fan with a Sunday show last summer after playing seven years in the NFL.
With Clough moving into daytime, his previous weeknight slot will be filled by former midday and evening host Shawn Drotar who makes his full-time return to the station.
Since leaving The Fan a few years ago, Drotar spent time working for Mile High Sports Radio as their digital director. He also hosted shows with Nate Lundy on the SB Nation Radio network. He’s a familiar voice to The Fan’s audience, having spent 2014 – 2015 teaming with Ryan Edwards in evenings and middays.
To make room for Clough and Franklin’s new midday show, The Fan is cancelling The Safety Blitz with Nick Ferguson. The show just launched in April. PD Raj Sharan announced via Twitter that Ferguson would shift into a new role with the station contributing on-air and online.
