Dontrelle Willis announced he’s joining NBC Sports Bay Area to cover the Athletics for the upcoming baseball season. The former major league pitcher and his charismatic personality will contribute to the network as an in-studio analyst.
A World Series champ and two-time All-Star, Willis last pitched in the majors during the 2011 season at the age of 29. After injuries and lack of pitching command his playing career, Willis joined FOX Sports as a studio analyst in 2015.
Willis did not share how his new role with NBC Sports Bay Area will impact his national gig on FOX Sports, where he regularly contributed to their nightly show MLB Whiparound. The 38-year old former major leaguer, turned broadcaster grew up in the Bay Area as an Oakland A’s fan.
