For years, Mike Francesa has claimed the famed Twitter handle Funhouse (@BackAftaThis) would splice and edit audio to mock the WFAN host. While the videos Funhouse posts are always legitimate, the anonymous social media account has shared some content out of context and Nick Wright wasn’t having it.
“You’re a fraud and an embarrassment to yourself,” Wright wrote of the person behind the Funhouse curtain.
Funhouse shared a very short clip of Wright’s show on SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Radio, discussing DeSean Jackson’s anti-Semitic social media post. Funhouse captioned the audio “Nick Wright looks back at a time when it was accepted to say ‘that guy Jew’d me down.’” With ‘cancel culture’ in constant search for social media headlines to attack, Wright called Funhouse’s post “reprehensible” for taking the audio completely out of context.
The clip was pulled from Wright discussing not just microaggressions, but instances of overt racism that were once socially tolerated. After Wright called out Funhouse, the Twitter account posted a longer clip which more properly depicted the radio host’s objective.
Funhouse posted an out of context clip and Wright fired back hard. Fraud, embarrassment, dishonest, bottom feeder and reprehensible were some of the adjectives the popular TV and radio host used to describe the anonymous social media account.
Francesa remains the apple of Funhouse’s eye, but Mike’s reduced radio footprint led the Twitter handle to turn his attention toward and away from Colin Cowherd, to now offering a more balanced attack, grabbing sound from a variety of shows.
Funhouse’s schtick of attempting to expose radio hosts can be unfair at times, but I will note, the account provides an excellent free service for someone like me who writes about the industry.
