College basketball’s most recent national champions have a new home in the nation’s capitol. Radio listeners in Washington, DC will now hear the Virginia Cavaliers on ESPN 630 the Sports Capitol.
Starting with this football season, UVA football and men’s basketball will call ESPN 630 the Sports Capitol home. Those games, along with Coach’s Corner shows featuring Bronco Mendenhall and Tony Bennett, had previously aired in DC on Salem Media’s 570 the Answer.
“Adding The Sports Capitol to our network gives us a much greater presence and reach in one of our strongest markets,” Virginia Sports Properties general manager Brad Ferrell said in a press release. “This area is home to one of our largest concentration of Virginia fans and we are excited to establish this relationship and provide greater coverage to the Cavalier athletics programs in the Washington, D.C. metro market.”
