Presidential nominee Joe Biden blasted a CBS political reporter for asking him about a New York Post report that ties him to his son’s alleged business dealings with Ukraine. Biden told Bo Erickson that the report was a “smear campaign” and said that type of questioning was “right up his alley”.
“Those are the questions you always ask,” Biden quipped. The report, which was flagged on Twitter said Hunter Biden helped arrange a meeting between his father, then-vice president, and an executive at a Ukrainian energy company.
Erickson documented his exchange with Biden on Twitter. As of Monday morning, his response has been seen more than 6 million times. “When you ask a candidate a question about an already debunked conspiracy theory, you should expect a response like that,” read one response.
Several hundred responses poured in after the word “debunked” was tweeted. “Ok so show us the research you did that debunks it, because it did belong to hunter, as did the content on it. Your guy has been caught selling influence on foreign oligarchs and the best you have after 4 years is still “Russia!”
The FBI is now investigating whether the emails are part of a foreign influence operation, according to the Associated Press.
