Meghan McCain was one of many media figures to lash out at lashed Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) for traveling to Cancun, Mexico. At the same time, his constituents were without power amid extreme winter weather.
“The View” co-host went on to compare the Texas senator to Marie Antoinette, who supposedly told her starving subjects to eat cake.
“There’s a lot of heads to roll, a lot of people to blame,” McCain said. “[To] flee your home state while people are freezing to death, to go to Cancun, is very Marie Antoinette.”
Cruz was spotted Wednesday jetting to Mexico, where it was 85 degrees when Cruz was in Cancun. Meanwhile, Houston and the rest of Texas were dealing with 34-degree weather, and nearly 3 million Texas households were still without power, which has since been restored. The Texas senator claimed he was simply a “good dad” and escorted his daughters to a school break with friends. The senator’s initial stay in Mexico was until Saturday. However, that changed due to the backlash he receieved.
