MLB Network Discussing Morning Show With Craig Carton

Another WFAN icon may be coming to MLB Network. According to Andrew Marchand, the network is in talks with Craig Carton to host a new morning show.

The new show isn’t a given, but it would not effect his employment with WFAN or his afternoon show with Evan Roberts.

MLB Network also employs SiriusXM’s Chris “Mad Dog” Russo for the early afternoon show High Heat, which has been a success.

It is an interesting time to hear Carton is having conversations with MLB Network. The company just laid off 17 people last week. Surely Carton won’t come cheap or be sold internally as some kind of cost-cutting move.

Marchand points out that for Carton, an MLB Network show could provide a little bit of security and relief. He still owes the victims of his fraud scheme $5 million in restitution.

So far, the network is being quiet about any negotiations. Marchand reports that if Carton joined MLB Network, he could do a two or three hour show leading into MLB Central at 10 am on the East Coast.
