PBS White House Correspondent Draws Criticism for Question at Biden Press Conference

PBS’ White House reporter, Yamiche Alcindor, drew sharp criticism from several members of the media Thursday for the way she framed a question to President Joe Biden during his press conference. The context of the question had to do with immigration and the crisis at the border.

Alcindor’s long-winded attempt to avoid asking Biden directly about his failures with immigration culminated in her referring to Biden as a “moral, decent man.”

“You’ve said over and over again that immigrants shouldn’t come to this country right now … That message is not being received,” she said. “Instead, the perception of you that got you elected as a moral, decent man is the reason a lot of immigrants are coming to this country and are trusting you with unaccompanied minors.”

Biden noted that the border has seen a record surge in migrants but that “it happens every single, solitary year.”

“Biden gets to riff off @Yamiche touting how he’s a nice and decent guy,” tweeted Tim Graham, columnist for media watch dog, NewsBusters.

Biden spoke for just over an hour on Thursday in the first solo news conference of his presidency.

“The second reporter to be called on at the presser, PBS’ Yamiche Alcindor, just suggested people are coming to the border because Biden is a “moral” and “decent” man,” tweeted Spectator USA’s Amber Athey.
