It’s been 370 days since Marc Silverman’s last in-studio WMVP-AM 1000 show with co-host Tom Waddle. Afterward, the 49-year-old would learn his Stage 3 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma diagnosis that he’d have to battle with amid a coronavirus pandemic.
Throughout Silverman’s ordeal, the radio host continued his duty as co-host of the “Waddle & Silvy” show on ESPN 1000 in Chicago from 2 to 6 p.m. weekdays. Nonetheless, after a year away, Silverman made his anticipated return to ESPN 1000′s State Street headquarters.
“This is a big, big day and I appreciate everyone allowing me to indulge in today,” Silverman said to the Chicago Tribune.
“To go through what any cancer patient has gone through, you have to celebrate the milestones. Maybe two years ago, I would have told everyone to go stick it and let me come back and just go to work. But after going through the last year. It’s like back to normal finally.”
Silverman is hopeful that he’ll be cured in five years, but until he receives that news from his doctor, the radio host will be tested regularly.
