CNN’s Don Lemon appeared on the “On Brand with Donny Deutsch,” where the anchor
made critical remarks regarding the Democratic Party as he went on to call them
“weak.”
“I think they’re weak,” Lemon said in comments that The Hill relayed. “I think they have
great morals, and they have great values, but I think that they are terrible at politics, and
I think they have to become more cunning.”
The MSNBC contributor Deutsch then transitioned over to the GOP, asking a similar
question regarding the Republican Party and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.). Lemon
responded by calling the GOP “liars” and the senator a “political chameleon.”
As news media transitions into the post-Trump era, some have begun to feel the effects
of losing the bump the former president would bring to their coverage.
During the podcast, Lemon disagreed with Deutsch over his job being difficult now because Trump was a “Bond villain that [Lemon] could play off of every night.”
“I think it’s actually easier now to do the news because we can actually do the news,”
Lemon replied. “We can actually talk about real issues [and] about things that are
important rather than someone trying to change the news cycle rather than someone
just being sensational.”
