MeidasTouch Rips Fox News for Not Running Their Ad

An advertisement from a liberal group MeidasTouch has been rejected by Fox News, which targets the January 6 riot at the Capitol.

The advertisement includes testimonials from officers who described their experiences from the attack, which obstructed Congress’s counting of the Electoral College votes. In addition, it criticized Republicans for downplaying the attack.

However, the network decided to decline the advertisement, leading to the group criticizing them for the decision. According to Ben Meiselas, MeidasTouch co-founders said Fox News had told the group over the phone that they would not air the ad. He also added that Fox News had never previously said no to an ad without first suggesting edits.

Despite these claims from the group, CNN media reporter Brian Stelter, stated in his newsletter that this complaint is a call for attention.

“A liberal group, MeidasTouch, is crying foul because Fox has declined to air its TV ad about January 6. But let’s be honest – this seems like a bid for attention. Fox is within its rights to object to the messenger behind the ad, not the message,” Stelter wrote.
