A heritage news/talk station in Mid-Maryland announced that they have opted to carry the brand-new “Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show” when it begins next week.
930 WFMD which is situated between two large markets (Baltimore and Washington D.C.) made the announcement after its main competitor 105.9 FM WMAL decided to carry the brand-new Dan Bongino Show.
“As a traditional news/talk station located in the shadow of nearby large and small market competition, we decided to go with Travis & Sexton after Rush,” said program director Frank Mitchell. “As they say they are ‘Inspired by Rush’, and hopefully will hold our core audience while adding content that is fresh and aimed toward a slightly younger demographic.”
WFMD is celebrating its 85th year on the air. The death of talk icon Rush Limbaugh caused a ripple effect in the market with WMAL and WFMD forced to make tough decisions.
Limbaugh had become a staple in the local market and when the decision was made not to carry Bongino’s show, some WFMD listeners reacted with surprise and shock as the former Secret Service agent was seen as Rush’s successor.
WFMD airs two local shows during the weekdays and offers its listeners several popular syndicated program choices including Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity.
