A former Boston television reporter has been hired as the new host of a show on Salem Media Group’s WROL 950 AM and 100.3 FM.
The show is called Boston & Beyond with Jeff Derderian. The show will air on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Management said the show will include topical, engaging, and interesting stories. Derderian’s career includes stints at WJAR-TV, WPRI-TV, and WBZ-TV.
“We are excited to bring more live content to the people of Boston,” Salem Media Group Boston’s General Manager, Carole Howley Simmons. “When Jeff was approached, the idea was to utilize his vast media experience and interviewing skills along with his ability to engage people in lively conversation on Saturday mornings as people start their weekend.”
Derderian was one of the first New England TV reporters to report live from New York City just hours after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He also covered the Columbine tragedy and the return to space for legendary astronaut John Glenn.
“I started my career in radio and you really get to connect directly with the audience,” he said.
