Dan Le Batard wasn’t shy about his opinions on ESPN programming when he was on the network. It is no surprise that he is still sharing those opinions after his divorce from Bristol earlier this year.
On Thursday night, Le Batard tweeted that he had been drinking tequila and wanted to give his followers the chance to ask him anything.
One of the first to respond was his friend and colleague Mina Kimes. She asked about Cowboys running back Rico Dowdel’s performance in the Hall of Fame Game in jest, knowing that Dan famously does not like breaking down preseason games. The response she got had to be a very pleasant surprise.
Kimes will be in the booth For NFL action this preseason. She was part of Rams broadcasts on ABC 7 in Los Angeles last year. The team announced earlier this week that she would be back in 2021, working alongside Andrew Siciliano and Aqib Talib.
ESPN has seen Monday Night Football turn into a game of musical chairs since Mike Tirico left the network in 2016 to join NBC. 2021 will be the first season in a while where there has been no change at all on the broadcast crew.
There certainly will be no shortage of opportunities to use Mina Kimes in Monday Night Football coverage. Last year, ESPN rolled out MegaCasts of select games. Last month, the network announced it had reached a deal with the Manning brothers to anchor ten simulcasts for each of the next three seasons. That alone gives the network considerably more roles to fill each week, and it may not be done with unique presentations for Monday Night Football.
Dan is such an idiot, I think it’s pretty clear this whole Meadowlark sports media is going to crash and burn. You teamed up with John Skipper, the guy who turned ESPN from a powerhouse, must-watch sports channel into a laughing stock.
