Shaquille O’Neal has probably starred in more ad campaigns since he retired than he did during the entirety of his NBA career. The pitch man for Papa John’s, Icy Hot, The General, and more is now adding WynnBet to his repertoire.
“As part of the partnership, O’Neal will advise on strategy and be featured prominently in WynnBet’s linear and digital advertising campaigns,” reports Kyle Koster of The Big Lead. “He is also expected to create original content and interact with media partners.”
There is one hiccup. As an owner of a stake in an NBA team, Shaquille O’Neal is not allowed to promote any gambling company.
It seems Shaq sees a bigger upside in sports betting than in Sacramento. He is selling his stake in the Kings, which he purchased in 2013, in order for the new partnership to close.
O’Neal was a star from the second he set foot on LSU’s campus in the 90s. During his playing career released rap albums, starred in movies and endorsed any number of products. Since retirement, his star has continued to rise both in broadcasting, as a part of TNT’s Inside the NBA, and in business.
WynnBet has signed a number of partners to endorse their app. Shaquille O’Neal may be its most well-known, and thus most effective though.
Terrible move by Shaq, you are wealthy beyond words and now get in bed with slimy betting companies to profit off people with betting addictions? Just sickening.
