Former New York Gov. George Pataki is sharing his thoughts about Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s decision to resign amid sexual harassment allegations.
Pataki joined WCBS 880’s Peter Haskell following Cuomo’s shocking announcement Tuesday.
The former governor said, “It’s a sad day for New York,” but added that he wasn’t shocked when he heard the news given the investigation by state officials into his conduct.
“I think now we have the opportunity for a new start for New York. And let’s hope it’s a good one,” he said.
Pataki said Cuomo would have been impeached had he not made the decision to resign. He also said he supports further investigation into last year’s nursing home scandal.
“Over 15,000 people died in the nursing homes scandal. And that has never been fully investigated,” Pataki said.
Why did the governor require nursing homes to take COVID positive patients while the USS Comfort and the Javits Center sat basically vacant?”
