Katie George is adding a prominent side gig to her already busy schedule. The sideline reporter for ESPN and the ACC Network will serve as a brand ambassador for Champion Gaming, the company behind Football Outsiders and Edj Sports.
Football Outsiders is already a content partner of ESPN, which likely made the deal pretty easy for all involved. It also doesn’t hurt that Champion Gaming is based in Louisville, where George grew up and played college volleyball.
“I’m so happy to partner with the Champion Gaming brand,” Katie George said in a press release. “I’ve been a fan of Football Outsiders and its partnership with ESPN for years so this opportunity felt like a natural fit. As a Louisville native, how often do you get to work with a promising company that’s right in your backyard? I consider myself very fortunate to team up with Champion Gaming!”
Under the terms of the deal, Katie George will create content for Champion Gaming on social media. She will also host a video podcat for Edj Sports each week. Her content will be focused on gambling and fantasy.
ESPN has not been shy about its plans for sports gambling money. The network has not taken in-game advertising from any sportsbooks as it seeks big money in a deal to license its name to a sportsbook partner. It seems that while ESPN has put its own business on hold, it is not standing in the way of any of its talent that may be seeking their own deals.
