Jonathan Lemire is departing his position covering the Trump and Biden administrations for the Associated Press as the journalist has two new roles that he’ll be balancing.
First, Lemire will be joining MSNBC as the network announced that he’s the new host of “Way Too Early,” taking over the role left behind by Kasie Hunt, who left for CNN. Lemire will kick start the coverage for MSNBC with the 5 A.M. start time.
“So I am going over the fine print here, and it is 5 A.M.? Is that what I signed up for?” Lemire joked to Morning Joe co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski.
Furthermore, Lemire hopes to put his stamp on the morning show as he wants it to “have a real reporter’s sensibility” and tell the audience “what is driving the day.”
Nonetheless, the news for Lemire didn’t stop there as he’ll also be joining Politico to be its White House bureau chief, the media outlet announced.
“Jonathan Lemire, one of the most versatile and trusted reporters on the White House beat, will be joining us as our new bureau chief this November, helping to spearhead our coverage of the current administration,” the statement said.
“He covered two presidential administrations, first Donald Trump and now Joe Biden. He broke scores of stories and wrote authoritative analysis while covering the day-to-day workings of both presidencies. He did it all, somehow, while averaging 3.5 hours of sleep each night.”
