A former Kansas City news anchor is diving into the world of politics by announcing a run for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Mark Alford appeared on KCMO Talk Radio’s Pete Mundo Show Wednesday to discuss his reasoning for leaving a career that spanned the better part of two decades.
“I want to use my voice, my training, my communication skills, my love of the people of this area, this region, the state to make a conservative voice even stronger in Washington,” said Alford.
Alford talked vaguely about his reason for leaving the Fox 4 KC morning show in a Twitter post days before his appearance on Mundo’s show. Alford said it has “not been easy being in the media while also being a conservative Christian who respects law enforcement and also wants to promote entrepreneurs and small business owners.”
Alford told Mundo that he felt like his voice was being diminished in the newsroom and that he was thinking about a run for office for several years.
“I’ve got 20, maybe 30 years left in me to do something really spectacular and serve people,”
