Mark Chernoff was welcomed into the New York State Broadcasters Hall of Fame on Thursday. The former WFAN leader was the lone representative of radio in the 2021 class.
Earlier this year, Chernoff left WFAN after nearly 30 years. During his time with America’s first sports talk station, he oversaw the success of shows like Imus in the Morning and Mike and the Mad Dog. He also helped bring stars like Boomer Esiason, Craig Carton and more to the station.
“When people think of WFAN, names like Imus, Mike & The Mad Dog or Boomer [Esiason] often come to mind, but no name has been more responsible for the consistent excellence of THE FAN than ‘Chernoff,’” Audacy Senior VP and New York City Market Manager, Chris Oliviero said in a press release from the New York State Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
While most know Mark Chernoff for his time in sports radio, his career history also includes leading the legendary rock outlet 92.3 K Rock. There, Mark Chernoff worked with both Howard Stern and Opie and Anthony.
Boomer Esiason was in attendance for the ceremony. He took to Twitter to post a photo and sing his former boss’s praises.
