María Elena Salinas Joins ABC News as a Contributor

ABC News is adding a veteran journalist whose career spans four decades. The network announced in a statement that María Elena Salinas is joining ABC News as a contributor.

Salinas made her career at Univision, beginning at the local level in Los Angeles, then making her way up to the national. She served as a host for their evening news program “Noticiero Univision” for more than 30 years.

Following her long-tenured stint at Univision, Salinas moved to CBS News as a contributor, covering various topics for the network, like the 2020 presidential election.

“With a career that spans four decades, María Elena has interviewed world leaders and covered major national and international news events, including elections, natural disasters, and armed conflicts,” ABC News president Kim Godwin said in a note to the staff.

“María Elena is a strong and experienced journalist whose skills and passion will be a terrific addition to our team. Her role as a contributor will also extend beyond her on-air duties, serving as a consultant for the Race and Culture Unit.”
