Hall-of-Fame radio personality Jim Bohannon is dealing with health issues that have prevented him from hosting his nightly radio show.
After much speculation, Bohannon’s producers aired a recorded message at the beginning of a show this week. Bohannon thanked his guest hosts but did not divulge specifics about his condition.
“Hi. This is Jim Bohannon, and I hope it sounds like me. I’m sure many of you have noticed my on-air absence of late. I have some health issues which will keep me off a bit longer,” he said in a statement published on Talkers.
Bohannon has been a consistent presence on Talkers’ “Heavy 100” list. He was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2003. In 2013, Talkers awarded him the “Lifetime Achievement Award.”
“In the meantime, thanks to guest hosts Dom Giordano, John Trout, and Rick Valdes for continuing to fill in, and I hope to return to the Jim Bohannon Show in the not-too-distant future,” added Bohannon.
Bohannon’s show airs from 10-1 EST on hundreds of radio stations across the country.
