The summer fling is officially over.
Charles Barkley has ended contract talks with LIV Golf and will remain with TNT’s Inside The NBA, per a report from The New York Post‘s Andrew Marchand.
Marchand predicted earlier this week Barkley would likely remain with TNT.
“I want to thank Greg Norman and LIV for their interest in me,” Barkley told Marchand. “It is best for me to move on and I’m staying with Turner for the rest of my TV career.”
The courtship between Barkley and the Saudi-backed golf league led to several weeks of speculation about Barkley’s future with TNT, his endorsements, his salary, and the future of the golf tour.
Barkley had previously set a Thursday deadline for a contract offer, which reportedly did not materialize.
The former NBA All-Pro isn’t the only media member LIV Golf has made headlines for pursuing this summer. Last week, Colin Cowherd said he had been contacted by the representatives of Greg Norman to attend an event. The controversial tour has added Arlo White and David Feherty in broadcasting roles.
