During a Thursday appearance on The Mike Gallagher Show, former Salem Media Group conservative talk show host Larry Elder said he was giving a 2024 Presidential bid “strong consideration”.
“You of all people show know better than to believe everything you read in the newspaper,” Elder told Gallagher. “But the answer is I am giving it strong consideration. As you know, we’ve collected around 150,000 individual donors, one of whom was Mike Gallagher.”
Elder, who led a failed recall effort of Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) in 2021, detailed why he won’t run for governor in 2022 and has set his sights on higher office.
“I was encouraged by a lot of people to think about something beyond California because the math is daunting,” the 70-year-old Elder said. “There hasn’t been a Republican who has won statewide (office) in 20 years. Republicans are outnumbered three to one. It’s almost impossible if you’re going to run as a conservative pro-life, pro-borders, pro-school choice, low taxes, low regulation, and not as a climate change alarmist. If you run like that, it’s almost impossible to win in California. I would have a better shot winning something nationwide, and I am taking a look at it.”
