CNN made headlines last week when network boss Chris Licht opted to cancel the media show “Reliable Sources,” leading to the departure of host Brian Stelter.
Furthermore, Deadline reports that more changes are coming to the company as Licht continues molding CNN into his vision. However, The Wrap adds that some names such as Don Lemon and Jim Acosta are expected to stay.
“A CNN insider said that “no decisions are being made” yet and said only that Licht is “weeks away” from announcing major programming changes,” TheWrap wrote.
“Furthermore, insiders at Warner Bros. Discovery have not been advised of a plan to eliminate either high-profile journalist.”
Nonetheless, TheWrap added in their report that a CNN insider this week said that Licht aims to establish a more unbiased voice as a news platform that’s less connected with a left-wing lens.
“It’s not a good brand position to be the opposite of Fox News,” a network insider familiar with Licht’s thinking told the media outlet.
“He wants to be tough and no bulls—, but not affiliated with a side. It’s fair to say he doesn’t like the CNN vs. Fox thing.”
Licht still has to fill the timeslot left behind following the ouster of Chris Cuomo and now has to come up with a Sunday show to replace “Reliable Sources.”
The new CNN boss has already appointed Ryan Kadro as CNN’s new senior vice president of content, strategy, and development to begin making over the network.
