American soccer reporter Grant Wahl claims that he was refused entry into a World Cup stadium near Qatar for wearing a rainbow shirt.
Philadelphia talk radio host Chris Stigall discussed the significance of this story during his show on 990 The Answer Tuesday.
Stigall said Wahl took to Twitter to vent that he was initially refused entry into the stadium.
“Qatar World Cup security detained me for 25 minutes for wearing a t-shirt supporting LGBTQ rights, forcibly took my phone and angrily demanded that I remove my t-shirt to enter the stadium,” Wahl posted.
Stigall said the trials and tribulations faced by the American soccer writer in Qatar should serve as a reminder of the freedom that we’re blessed with in this country.
“On this Thanksgiving week, I think it’s just a friendly reminder to peel back and consider the blessings and freedoms of the greatest country on earth,” Stigall said. “We are blessed beyond measure with unalienable human rights.”
Stigall added that there is no freer country than the United States.
“I wake up every day and go to battle and we get outraged by the leftists in this country,” Stigall added. “You and I are horrified at the idea of people being silenced for their speech.”
