Politico Will Add Several New Positions in 2023

While many in the news media industry are seeing different companies cut staffers either at the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023, it’s a different tone at Politico.

Natalie Fertig, a reporter for Politico, relayed the news regarding the media outlet’s plans to bring on new staffers.

“At a town hall, @politico just announced 150 new jobs in the next year – many of those in editorial,” Fertig tweeted on Wednesday. “I know there’s been a lot of layoffs recently — please tell your reporter friends who’ve been laid off to keep an eye on politico’s jobs page!”

CNN has been one of the prominent companies undergoing layoffs throughout this year as many staffers and executives have left the company. Meanwhile, the most recent outlet to announce layoffs is The Washington Post.

The Washington Post spokesperson Kathy Baird confirmed the newspaper would eliminate several positions.

The Washington Post is evolving and transforming to put our business in the best position for future growth,” she said in a statement.

“We are planning to direct our resources and invest in coverage, products, and people in service of providing high value to our subscribers and new audiences. As a result, a number of positions will be eliminated.”
