Gregg Giannotti: ‘Brett Favre Could Go After Us Too’

Gregg Giannotti isn’t sure what is in bounds and what is out of bounds when it comes to Brett Favre now. The Hall of Famer has filed defamation lawsuits against multiple people, saying that he has been cleared of any wrongdoing in the scandal that saw him advocating for funds intended for welfare recipients to be directed toward a volleyball facility at the University of Southern Mississippi.

On Friday morning, Boomer Esiason reiterated that Favre could go to jail for his involvement in the scandal. Giannotti wasn’t so sure. The WFAN host said that the suits have made him a little nervous because he cannot remember Favre’s legal status as it relates to the accusations.

“I wish I did know about it. Then I could be more confident in saying something. He’s going after everybody,” he said.

Pat McAfee and Shannon Sharpe are among the defendant’s Brett Favre has filed suit against.

“He could go after us too,” Gregg Giannotti added.

Esiason isn’t so sure. In fact, he thinks FOX and FanDuel will rush to the sides of Sharpe and McAfee respectively. He says he would expect Audacy to do the same for him or Giannotti if Favre did file a lawsuit against them.

“Your networks will cover you,” Esiason said. “All they’ll say is ‘Brett Favre is a public figure, this is a public story, we have commented on it and given an opinion on a public person.’ I mean, he doesn’t have a leg to stand on I don’t think.”

Are Favre’s lawsuits winnable? That is up for debate. Boomer & Gio agree that regardless of the outcome, Favre looks worse today than he did before any legal action was taken.
