Charles Barkley will have a new FanDuel commercial rolling out during NBA playoff coverage, and 106.7 The Fan host Danny Rouhier will be featured in it.
In the 30-second spot, Charles Barkley promotes same-game parlays and says if you’re betting on your favorite players, you have to think like your favorite players. Enter Rouhier – or at least his voice.
Danny talked about being a part of the spot on Thursday’s edition of Grant & Danny. He told co-host Grant Paulsen that the opportunity was everything he thought it would be.
“The experience has been incredible,” Rouhier said. “So, so, so cool.”
Obviously, that’s not Rouhier playing a younger Barkley. Danny said when it came to lending his voice, he had to stick to the script and what the actor portraying Barkley said.
“It’s not like I could just go off and sort of do Chuck and do Chuck-isms and different things,” he said. “I’ve got to say exactly what he said in the time allotted.”
Rouhier added that he ended up pitching a bunch of different variations on Barkley’s voice before they ultimately settled on the one they wanted.
“We did this whole range of them,” he said. “And I did so many different takes in the sound booth and we locked it in. These guys were so incredible to work with.”
Rouhier’s impression of the TNT analyst took centerstage in 2021 in a viral video. Producers of Inside the NBA liked it so much that they invited him on the show to interview Charles Barkley as Charles Barkley.
