Nickelodeon Super Bowl Broadcast Likely Start of Trend for Game

After a previously successful run of NFL games the last two seasons, Super Bowl LVIII is coming to kids network Nickelodeon. It will be the first time an alternate broadcast of the NFL’s championship game is available.

Parent company Paramount and CBS Sports announced Tuesday that the big game would be carried on Nick in February. Like the three other instances, the Super Bowl on Nickelodeon will feature separate graphics and incorporate many of the network’s well-known personalities, as well as Nick’s famous slime.

Thanks to the current media rights deal negotiated in 2021 between the NFL and its partners, the door will be open for Disney, FOX and NBC to develop their own alternate Super Bowl feeds in the future. Imagine Peyton and Eli Manning doing the ManningCast on ESPN and Pat McAfee and company with their own dedicated feed on ESPN2 as available options, in addition to Joe Buck and Troy Aikman on ABC, for Super Bowl LX in 2026.

“In Year 1 of our new long-term deal with the NFL, we continue to maximize the potential of our expanded distribution rights and further unlock the value of the league,” said Paramount president and CEO Bob Bakish to Front Office Sports.
