Baltimore Orioles announcer Kevin Brown remains suspended with his return reportedly coming Friday. CBS Sports Radio host Damon Amendolara believes that while the suspension is ridiculous, there is a positive for Brown.
While guest hosting The Jim Rome Show Wednesday, Amendolara argued that Brown is an American celebrity after the situation was reported earlier this week.
“This is extraordinary,” DA said of the reaction from Orioles fans to chant “Free Kevin Brown” during a recent game against the Astros. “And now Kevin Brown is a nationwide celebrity. In fact, the guy could probably name his job. This can be the best thing that ever happened to his career.
“I haven’t spoken to KB since this happened because I’m sure he’s been inundated. But I would tell him, dude, you’re now a celebrity nationwide,” Damon Amendolara continued. “Everybody knows who the Orioles play-by-play guy is.
Quick — do you know who the Twins play-by-play guy is? Quick! Do you know who the Marlins play-by-play guy is quick? Do you know who does the Rockies games on TV? The answer, probably for all of you, is no, no no. I don’t know anybody’s play-by-play guy. Everyone knows Kevin Brown. And we’re all in our own way going ‘Free Kevin Brown’.”
