ABC News Implementing Cost-Cutting Methods

ABC News could be heading toward a cost-cutting path as the television channel finds itself in potential sale rumors. CNN media reporter Oliver Darcy reports that the Disney-owned news organization has started making efforts to reduce spending.

According to Darcy, one of the ways that ABC News is attempting to make cuts and likely avoid any drastic changes is by encouraging shows to be far more judicious when deciding whether to send camera crews into the field.

However, deploying such personnel will still occur when warranted. In lieu of full-fledged camera crews, ABC News has resorted to using iPhones to shoot some stories, likely those that are breaking or needed for a quick turnaround.

Furthermore, the network is attempting to pick and choose their spots when they travel. Darcy adds that the television station is also scaling back on traveling to save on costs.

When Darcy asked for a statement from a network spokesperson, they declined to comment.
