Former CNN host Don Lemon made his first appearance on the network on Monday since his high-profile April 2023 ouster.
Lemon was a guest on Erin Burnett OutFront to promote his new book “I Once Was Lost.” In his introduction, he received a warm welcome from Burnett, who said “It is wonderful to see you.”
His appearance came as breaking news happened on the network, with the Secret Service revealing that the man arrested with a gun near former President Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago golf course did not have a sight line of the Republican nominee before he was shot at by the security detail.
Don Lemon was asked about the situation and said he takes issue with the response from the Republican presidential ticket.
“For Donald Trump and his folks to say – and JD Vance to say – that it’s Democrats who are causing this? That’s an issue,” Lemon said.
He shared that he’s happy the former President was unharmed in the incident while also calling for both sides of the political aisle to “lower the temperature” concerning rhetoric and narrative.
Lemon was dismissed by CNN in April 2023 — on the same day Fox News fired Tucker Carlson. At the time, he shared his extreme displeasure with how the firing was handled, before later sharing that he had “no regrets” from his time with the company. After his exit, Don Lemon agreed to a deal to produce a digital video program for the X platform before that deal was canceled by owner Elon Musk after a contentious interview between the pair.
