“The Almighty” Joe Bullard has left Urban AC 96.1 Jamz in Tallahassee after 30 years. There was no retirement announcement or farewell show, and it was unexpected.

The Tallahassee Democrat printed a statement from Bullard’s family which read, “While his departure was unplanned on his part and ultimately bittersweet for us all, we as a family have enough faith to know that God makes absolutely no mistakes, even in this. Joe will now have unlimited time to do what matters most to him, and that is to spend more time with his family and true friends.”

Bullard, with nearly 50 years of experience, has been a fixture at WHBX since 1997, initially hosting the program “Joe’s Jukebox.” In addition to his midday shift, he previously served as the station’s Program Director.

Bullard, an alumnus of Florida A&M University, has also been the voice of the college’s marching band since 1975.

He is a 2023 inductee into the Black Radio Hall of Fame.

Cumulus Media declined to comment while confirming that Bullard is no longer employed at 96.1 Jamz.
