Todd Herman: Kaitlan Collins is on Same Path As Jake Tapper

Date:

Certain conservative commentators argue that Kaitlan Collins‘ shift in perspective, transitioning from her stance at the Daily Caller to her positions at CNN, is driven more by financial incentives rather than her genuine political beliefs.

During her appearance on Tucker Carlson Tonight in 2017, Kaitlan Collins defended former President Donald Trump’s critique of the press, criticized CNN, and expressed disapproval towards her colleagues for their response to Trump’s criticisms.

Seattle radio host Todd Herman addressed Kaitlan Collins’ shift from being a journalist to adopting an activist role during his guest appearance on Friday while filling in for Dan Loesch.

“The aspect of this that’s very familiar for someone who has worked in the beltway is this has happened to Jake Tapper,” said Herman. “There was a time when Jake [Tapper] was about as straightforward a reporter as you can get. Incidentally, he was also super approachable, a nice guy.”

Herman recounted an incident when he encountered Tapper as he was about to conduct a report at the Republican National Committee building. He admired Tapper’s impartial journalism and lauded his ability to separate his political perspectives from his reporting.

“What has been rewarded at CNN is speaking in these panicked tones about President Trump, speaking in these panicked tones about him being a walking, breathing, death to democracy,” said Herman. “This is what happens in these media circles.”

Herman expressed skepticism about young reporters’ motivations and capacity to evaluate their careers in terms of objectivity and honesty critically.

“If you’re a young person considering a job in big media or politics, I beg you to hear me on this,” he said. “Write down the things you will never do, make a list, and then have them put on plaques. For instance, I will never accept a bribe, I will never cheat on my wife, I will never lie to Congress, I will never lie to the American people, and if it’s my job to lie to the American people, I will never spin the truth for my boss.”
