Former New York Jets quarterback and current FOX Sports analyst Mark Sanchez is stepping into a new role as host of Rearview, a digital series that aims to provide a raw and unfiltered look at life in the NFL from the front seat of the car.
Sanchez, 38, told FOX Sports the goal is to create conversations that go beyond typical press conference soundbites, focusing instead on the human side of the league’s most recognizable figures. Despite quarterbacks already being among the most frequently interviewed players in the NFL, Sanchez believes he’s uniquely positioned to get them to reveal more.
“We’ve walked down the same tunnels and had the same grueling practices,” Sanchez told FOX Sports. “That means a lot between players.”
The debut episode features Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, who led his team to a 27-21 upset win over the defending AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs in Brazil last Friday. Sanchez noted that quarterback-to-quarterback conversations offer a mutual respect that allows for deeper insight.
“Understanding that person’s perspective and what they’re going through gives some of these players a chance to really open up,” Sanchez said. “That’s one big advantage for our show.”
The concept for Rearview came together through Sanchez’s long-standing friendship with Scott McKnight, a former Jets teammate who founded GOAT Farm Media. McKnight and Sanchez have known each other since childhood, and the idea of building a show around candid NFL conversations emerged naturally.
“When he was talking to me about the show and getting a host, it just kind of worked out perfect,” Sanchez explained.
The project soon attracted high-profile backing. Tom Brady, who has developed his own media footprint since retiring from the NFL, joined as a creative partner through his company Shadow Lion. FOX Sports then signed on to distribute the series across its digital platforms.
Sanchez described Rearview as a chance to spotlight “impact players” across the league at every position. He also intends to bring in NFL head coaches for future episodes, adding another layer of perspective to the show’s mix of storytelling and analysis.
