KTAR News 92.3 early afternoon host Chris Merrill has exited the station, leading to a new lineup being instituted at the Phoenix news/talk station.
Chris Merrill hosted The Chris & Joe Show from 2-4 PM alongside Joe Huizenga. Merrill originally joined the station lineup alongside Huizenga in January 2024.
With the move, the station is adjusting its afternoon lineup. Outspoken with Bruce & Gaydos — hosted by Bruce St. James and Larry Gaydos — will now air from 2-6 PM, moving from its current timeslot of 4-7 PM.
The station is relaunching Arizona’s Evening News from 6-7 PM, with Huizenga anchoring the show alongside Becky Lynn.
The remainder of the station’s lineup remains intact. Chris Merrill is departing KTAR News 92.3 for what he labeled as a “once in a lifetime opportunity.”
“It’s one of those situations where if you were to say no, you’d always wonder ‘what if’,” Merrill said in his farewell. “And after long conversations with my wife, we just said ‘We can’t say no to this.’ You can’t go to the big leagues and not swing the bat.”
Merrill previously worked at 600 KOGO in San Diego, 550 KFYI in Phoenix, and KMBZ in Kansas City. He has also served as a fill-in and weekend host at KFI-AM 640 in Los Angeles.
