Barrett Media has learned that Marc James is no longer with iHeartMedia’s KJR Sports Radio in Seattle, as the company continues a series of layoffs impacting markets across the country.
James joined KJR in February of last year. He replaced Jason Puckett and Jim Moore, both of whom exited the station in March of 2024.
KJR has not commented on the departure, but has updated their on air lineup to signal the changes. Currently, KJR has listed a 10am-12pm show in James’ place which could lead to potential other changes with the lineup dayparts.
James’ short tenure at KJR is just the latest name as iHeartMedia continues a round of layoffs at company. So far, this has affected leadership, sales, and some members of the programming staff throughout the country are starting to be let go, too.
James formerly worked in Tampa, Fla. at SportsTalk Florida 820 WWBA and started his radio career from the Miami-Fort Lauderdale marketplace in 2004. Throughout his career, he has hosted afternoon drive on WFNZ in Charlotte and morning drive on 92.9 The Game in Atlanta.
Moreover, he formerly worked for the New England Sports Network in Boston as an anchor and also appeared on WEEI-FM. James has been working in the Tampa designated market area since 2020 on the sports talk radio station, and he will now be making the move to the Pacific Northwest.
James has not responded for comment from Barrett Media.

Are we sure he wasn’t fired? His comments last week about Diana Russini I think offended a lot of people. If you heard him last week on Friday then you know what I mean.
Last week he spent an entire episode trashing Pearl Jam. Those guys are all local, huge sports fans and donate serious time and money to Seattle causes. He didn’t read the room very well on that one!
never liked him. cemented my commitment to 710 after splitting my mornings between kjr and 710. he tried to hard to be edgy and was just annoying
KJR 93.3 FM went from Jason Puckett and Jim Moore whom were both great 👍 then the answer to there I-Heart radio 📻 station needs was Gregg Bell my Buckeye Brotha from a different mother. Gregg Bell is amazing but had to handle family business 🙏God Bless the Bell family. Then this clown 🤡 MJ was not a good fit here in the Pacific Northwest. When Gregg Bell is ready 🙌 to make that move to the 10am to 1pm spit or 12pm. Please give the voice of reason a long-term contract with time off for his family and the Seahawks beat-writer. He is a Class act. Something this Radio 📻 station needs. When MJ was on I switch to 950 AM to Cowherd from 10am to noon. I tune in fir the last segment of the 1230pm to 1pm to hear Chris Kidd give his insights and cross talk with Ian. I have been a KJR listener and supporter since
February of 1998💯🙏🗽📻. It’s all about love in this world 🌎 and sometimes tough love but love no matter what Folk’s. Peace Farmer Jay
Never enjoyed MJ either
Always switched to 710 am when he was on.
MJ was horrible. Tried WAY too hard to be edgy and just not a good fit. Not sure what he was like at other stations on the east coast, but whoever hired him made a mistake and glad it was corrected!!
What I like about Marc James is that he offered a different perspective being from the East Coast. I liked that he embraced or tried to embrace the Northwest, but he also offered a different opinion that rivaled Washingtonians. I loved his betting segments. I will miss them. He added his energy to KJR and I will miss that energy
He was annoying and a poor fit for the PacNw. I listen to all of the other shows, daily and as soon as 10A approached and Chuck and Buck ended, I switched to Youtube to listed to Jason Puckett.
I’m glad he is gone for whatever reason. I was a LONG-time listener and when he joined, I switched to the competing Sports station when he was on the air. Now I am back.
