Mix Mornings Raleigh Loses Bryan Lord and Sarah King

"I'm ready to spend more time with my family and pursue the next avenue in my life."

Date:

Two longtime morning hosts at Mix 101.5 WRAL-FM in Raleigh are heading for the exit. Bryan Lord and Sarah King are both departing Mix Mornings with Kyle, Bryan, and Sarah within the next week.

What We Know: Lord, King, and Kyle Smelser launched as Two Men and a Mom in August 2016. Lord previously worked with Smelser at Radio One’s Radio Now 100.9 in Indianapolis. Lord’s final day is Friday, July 17. King follows on Wednesday, July 22.

What They Said: Lord told listeners his return to Indianapolis is personal. “Part of this decision is taking care of family,” he said. “It is very clear to me that I’m being called home back to Indy.” King added, “I’m ready to spend more time with my family and pursue the next avenue in my life.”

What Remains Unclear: It is not yet known whether Capitol Broadcasting will pursue additional talent beyond the internal move. The long-term chemistry between Smelser and Lamontagne also remains to be seen. No formal announcement has addressed future show branding or positioning.

What It Means: Capitol Broadcasting is moving quickly by promoting midday host Meghan Lamontagne to mornings alongside Smelser starting next week. Lamontagne already knows the Raleigh market well, having previously co-hosted at iHeartMedia’s G105 WDCG. She also serves as in-arena host for the Hurricanes and NC Courage. The transition avoids a cold start — but rebuilding nearly a decade of morning chemistry won’t happen overnight.
