TelevisaUnivision eliminated the last “Recuerdo” station from its portfolio. KRCD Inglewood and KRCV West Covina flipped Wednesday to Spanish Contemporary Hits “Latino Mix.”
What We Know The company rebranded the pair with new call letters: KLXM and KLXO. Latino Mix focuses on current global rhythmic pop hits. The stations will air syndicated shows “El Flow” and “Mixology” alongside local personalities. Programming announcements will arrive soon.
What’s at Stake Recuerdo had languished with a meager 1.6 share in June 2026. The format shift completes Latino Mix’s expansion across five major markets. TelevisaUnivision now operates Latino Mix in Chicago, Dallas, Houston, and San Francisco, plus “Mix 98.3” Miami and “X96.3” New York. Recuerdo itself survives solely as a streaming brand going forward.
What Remains Unclear Details on the new local on-air team remain pending. Whether the market’s fragmented Hispanic audience will shift to Latino Mix remains to be seen. KXOL (Mega 96.3), owned by SBS, operates a competitive Spanish CHR format. That station also pulled a 1.6 share during the same period.
What It Means The flip signals TelevisaUnivision’s confidence in rhythmic-based Spanish formats in competitive large markets. Recently, competitor Meruelo repositioned two major stations. KPWR moved toward gold-based Hip Hop while KLLI shifted to Bilingual Adult Contemporary. These changes suggest Los Angeles radio is actively restructuring its Hispanic programming strategy.
