Mike Krukow is stepping away from the broadcast booth. The longtime Giants broadcaster will retire at the end of the 2026 season.
What We Know: Krukow, 74, has been part of the Giants organization since December 1982, when a trade brought him from Philadelphia in exchange for Joe Morgan. He pitched for the team through 1989, then moved into the booth full-time in 1994. Since then, he and Duane Kuiper have formed the longest-running broadcast duo in Major League Baseball. Krukow has also managed inclusion body myositis, a condition he disclosed in 2014.
What They Said: Mike Krukow: “[My wife] Jennifer and I have been so blessed to be able to stay in the game for as long as we have, and it’s really made it impossible to feel sorry for myself that my career is coming to an end.”
What Remains Unclear: The release doesn’t outline Krukow’s broadcast plans for the remainder of 2026, nor how the Giants intend to honor his run. It’s also unclear who might eventually pair with Kuiper going forward.
What It Means: Krukow’s exit closes a chapter that stretches back over four decades with one franchise. His rapport with Kuiper, built since 1983, became a signature sound for Giants fans. Meanwhile, his willingness to keep working through health challenges added another layer to his legacy in the Bay Area.
