Burke -- the current television voice of the New York Islanders -- has network experience, working NHL broadcasts for both NBC and TNT.

“I don’t know how many games I’ll do. Maybe I’ll do all of them."

The 38-year-old has seen his hockey profile grow, with national assignments from TNT added to his schedule. Burke worked 12 games on the Yankees Radio Network as one of several fill-in announcers as Sterling took extra time off during the season.

“I always thought I would be a baseball broadcaster,” said Burke. “That was always the idea when I was a kid just because that’s what I was around."

With Sterling out of the booth for those games, opportunities to fill-in will present themselves to a few broadcasters. The opportunity is awesome, but so is the task of ‘sitting in’ for a legendary play-by-play announcer.
