It ranked as cable's top adults 25-54 performance of the week (ending Jan. 1) outside of ESPN's football coverage and Paramount Network's "Yellowstone" and prequel series "1923".

The three major cable news outlets each had something to tout about ratings-wise on the evening.

Although less than half of FNC's draw, MSNBC (3.21 million) was runner-up among cable in total viewers followed by CNN (2.61 million).

Simply put, CNN's morning revamp has still relegated the network for third-place early-day status, behind its cable news brethren.

A scaling back of original projects is an about-face from the programming strategy of the past decade implemented by former CNN president Jeff Zucker.

Cuomo drew 129,000 viewers including 22,000 adults 25-54 — the program's top figures for the week (Oct. 17-21).

Cuomo's appearance, his first in public since his CNN firing from Nov. 2021, was a prelude to his new nightly program on NewsNation.

"A 50 percent drop in the key 25-54 demo is 50 percent drop in your billable viewer."

Cuomo remained stagnant with viewers in the 25-54-year-old demographic, with only 8,000 viewers, which is what NewsNation was averaging in primetime before the new show debuted.

For the 6:00 AM to noon Eastern period, Fox News was, by far, tops on cable with 1.97 million total viewers including 298,000 within the key 25-54 demographic. CNN's morning ratings received a hefty boost from its normal levels, averaging 1.52 million viewers.
