ABC News' World News Tonight has continually dominated the evening network newscast space. That didn't change at the conclusion of May.

World News Tonight aired live from China on Monday through Thursday last week.

NBC Nightly News took viewers to the Great Wall of China. They sat down with Secretary of State Marco Rubio for an interview that covered Iran, the Strait of Hormuz, Taiwan, and the broader U.S.-China relationship in ways that mattered.

Year over year, World News Tonight has grown for six straight weeks across all three measures.

It was also the closest the network finished to ABC News in the timeslot in the Adults 25-54 demographic in the past seven years.

The ratings victory for the ABC News show marked the ninth consecutive week during an Olympics that the program earned the top spot.

Despite the large week-over-week uptick, CBS Evening News still finished a distant third behind NBC Nightly News with Tom Llamas and World News Tonight with David Muir.

The figure marked a 47-week high for NBC News, its best performance since the week of February 10th last year.

Records were broken, billions were made, ratings were lost, and some of the biggest seats in all of television news changed hands in 2025.
