The question isn't whether podcasting will cannibalize radio. The bigger risk is allowing others to monetize our listeners after they turn off the radio.

CBS News Radio also captured Overall Excellence and Newscast honors, even though the network ended its radio operation earlier this year.

"I beat Curtis by six points in the demo. Six points! He should retire today."

"I’ve loved my job, and I already miss it. But I know another door will open."

If AM/FM radio wants to hold its ground, the programming has to earn every one of those extra ad minutes.

"Talk radio is in almost every way much freer than any of the television I did, [because] it's building a story. We're doing a commentary live on the air. Everything else I've been able to do, except for the live shots I did, I've been able to craft it. The crafting is immediate."

Harris joined 77 WABC and Worldwide News Network in May to help launch the new audio news operation following the end of CBS News Radio.

"If you have this great fortune and you don't have to go to work, you don't have to do any more of what you are doing, and you still want to do it? Man, that's awesome."

The station was already heard on 107.1 FM on Long Island.
